The Acting CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has shared a deeply personal tribute to the late Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, one of the eight victims of the tragic Z9 military helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday.
Speaking at a memorial on August 7, 2025, Prof. Gyampo recounted how Dr. Boamah, then a practicing medical doctor, saved the life of his son, who was gravely ill as an infant.
“He assured me that so long as God lives, and so long as he remains a professional doctor, the boy will live,” Gyampo recalled.
He revealed that for the past 18 years, he sent Dr. Boamah a photo of his son every birthday — a tradition that continued until this past June, when Dr. Boamah smiled and told him, “The boy has a bright future.”
Prof. Gyampo described the late Minister as not only a lifesaver and friend, but also a motivator behind his own public service, calling him a “great strategist, very smart, and strong-willed — above all, a human being.”
