U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a potential breakthrough in the Russia-Ukraine conflict following a two-hour phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In a statement released earlier today, Trump claimed that Russia and Ukraine will “immediately start negotiations toward a Ceasefire and, more importantly, an END to the War.”

Trump emphasized the positive tone of the conversation, stating that “the tone and spirit of the conversation were excellent.” He also suggested that Russia is eager to engage in large-scale trade with the United States once the conflict concludes, highlighting the potential for potential economic benefits for both nations. Additionally, Trump noted that Ukraine could greatly benefit from trade as it rebuilds.

According to Trump, he has already informed key international figures, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ursula von der Leyen (President of the European Commission), and several European leaders, about the impending negotiations. The Vatican, represented by the Pope, has reportedly expressed interest in hosting the talks. This announcement, if accurate, could signal a significant shift in the ongoing conflict, though details and independent confirmation remain pending.
