President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep concern over the severe flooding in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State, which has tragically led to loss of life and displacement of families. Upon receiving initial reports, the President promptly activated the National Emergency Response Centre and received briefings from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) regarding the disaster’s scale and urgent humanitarian needs. Search-and-rescue operations are currently underway, with all relevant federal agencies mobilized to support the state government’s efforts. Relief materials and temporary shelter assistance are being deployed without delay, ensuring that no Nigerian affected by the disaster is left behind.
President Tinubu has assured all those impacted that the government stands in solidarity with them, coordinating closely with the Niger State Government to ensure comprehensive support. Additionally, he has directed security agencies to assist in the emergency efforts, while NEMA and the National Emergency Response Centre have been tasked with coordination and providing necessary updates.
