President of Kenya has announced the construction of 230,000 affordable homes across the country, aiming to provide Kenyans with access to decent housing while promoting job creation and inclusive urban growth.
The programme is designed to strengthen local economies by reserving parts of the work—such as steel doors and windows—for Jua Kali artisans, ensuring economic benefits remain within the community.
As part of the initiative, the president launched the construction of the 376-unit Masalani Affordable Housing Project in Garissa County’s Jara Constituency, marking a key milestone in the nationwide effort to expand affordable housing.
