President Mahama Celebrates Kenya’s 62nd Jamhuri Day, Calls for Stronger Pan-African Unity

President John Dramani Mahama joined Kenyans in marking the 62nd anniversary of Jamhuri Day, delivering a message of solidarity, shared prosperity, and enduring friendship between Ghana and Kenya. He conveyed warm greetings from the people of Ghana and highlighted the historic bond between the two nations, rooted in the relationship between independence leaders Kwame Nkrumah and Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

While celebrating Kenya’s independence journey, President Mahama emphasised that Africa’s current challenge is economic freedom. He urged African leaders to confront global systems that disadvantage the continent and called for value addition, fair resource management, accountable leadership, youth empowerment, and increased intra-African trade through the AfCFTA.

He commended Kenya’s Pan-African leadership, particularly its intervention in Haiti, and noted Ghana’s support for Jamaica’s recovery efforts after Hurricane Melissa. President Mahama concluded by extending condolences to Kenyans on the passing of statesman Mzee Raila Odinga, wishing him eternal rest.
