“Politics Has Superseded the Real Gift” – Jim Iyke on Struggles in Ghana’s Film Industry

Nigerian actor Jim Iyke has shared his views on why Ghanaian actors are not thriving as much as their Nigerian counterparts. According to him, the Ghanaian film industry has allowed politics to “supersede the real gift” it once had.

In a recent interview, Iyke explained that Nigerians approach the business with a sharper focus, refusing to get emotional about money. He criticized Ghanaian actors for letting insecurities and personal issues get in the way of their progress.

“Can’t you leave your personal lives outside the box and focus on what’s really needed?” he asked.

He believes that for the Ghanaian industry to rise again, it needs to return to its roots—prioritizing talent, discipline, and professionalism over politics and emotion.
