One Dead After Cargo Plane Skids Off Runway Into Sea at Hong Kong Airport

A cargo plane operating under Emirates as Aerotranscargo skidded off the runway and plunged into the sea at Hong Kong International Airport early this morning, leaving one person dead, according to local media reports.

The flight, arriving from Dubai just before 04:00 local time, reportedly struck a vehicle on the north runway during landing. Four crew members were rescued and taken to the hospital. However, two ground staff fell into the sea, and their conditions remain unclear.

The Civil Aviation Department confirmed the incident, adding that the affected runway has been closed, while the airport’s other two runways remain operational.

Investigations are ongoing. More details will be released as the story develops.
