Ofori-Atta Claims Illness, Seeks Virtual Meeting with Special Prosecutor

Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who was scheduled to meet with Ghana’s Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) today, June 2nd, to assist in ongoing crime investigations against him, has reportedly stated he is unwell and has requested a virtual meeting instead.

This development comes after a period of significant attention surrounding Ofori-Atta’s case. In January, he was briefly declared a fugitive, a designation that was later retracted. The scheduled meeting with the OSP was intended to allow him to provide information and cooperate with the investigations.

The request for a virtual meeting due to health concerns introduces a new element to the proceedings. It remains to be seen how the OSP will respond to this request and whether the meeting will proceed as planned, albeit in a different format. The public and media are keenly awaiting further updates on this case, given its implications for governance and accountability.
