Nigerian Radio Host Sets Guinness World Record with 105-Hour Broadcast

Nigerian radio presenter George Iniabasi Essien, popularly known as Mighty George, has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the longest radio show, staying on air for an incredible 105 hours.

The historic broadcast took place on Comfort 95.1 FM in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, from April 27 to May 1. Under the rules, he was allowed five minutes of rest for every hour on air.

Essien, who is celebrating 20 years in radio, said his goal was to “put Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria on the world map” with this achievement — the first of its kind in both the state and the country’s broadcasting history.

Guinness World Records has officially confirmed the record.
