In a bold political move, nearly 10 members of Uganda’s Gen-Z have picked up nomination forms to contest the presidency in the upcoming January 2026 elections. The youthful aspirants aim to challenge long-serving President Yoweri Museveni, who has been in power since 1986.

This growing wave of young contenders reflects a strong desire for change among Uganda’s youth, many of whom are pushing for fresh leadership, better governance, and greater opportunities.
