Nana Agradaa Convicted for Money Doubling Scam and Duping Church Members; Court Orders Pregnancy Test Before Possible Jailing

In a significant turn of events, the founder of Heaven Way Church, Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has been convicted by the Circuit Court for engaging in charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretenses.

The case, which has drawn national attention, was presided over by Her Honor Evelyn Asamoah. The court found Nana Agradaa guilty of exploiting vulnerable individuals through deceptive religious claims and advertisements—a practice that has long been criticized by both legal experts and religious observers.

According to the prosecution, Agradaa used her position as a spiritual leader to lure unsuspecting victims with promises of financial miracles and wealth multiplication. Many of her followers claim they were encouraged to part with large sums of money in anticipation of divine financial rewards that never came.

As part of the court’s process leading up to sentencing, Her Honor Evelyn Asamoah ordered that a pregnancy test be conducted on the convicted pastor. This procedural step, though uncommon in many criminal cases, is often taken in Ghana’s courts when determining appropriate sentencing measures—particularly in cases involving women of childbearing age.

The court is expected to reconvene for sentencing following the outcome of the pregnancy test.

This conviction marks a pivotal moment in Ghana’s ongoing efforts to address spiritual fraud and unregulated religious practices. It also raises broader questions about the role of religious leaders and the responsibility they bear toward their congregations.

The public now awaits the court’s final decision on sentencing, which could set a precedent for similar cases in the future.
