Musician Wanlov the Kubolor Charged with Defrauding by False Pretense Over $4,500 Music Video, Pleads Not Guilty

Ghanaian musician Wanlov the Kubolor, whose real name is Emmanuel Owusu-Bonsu, has been arraigned in an Accra Circuit Court over allegations of defrauding Jemima Azizaa Abotsigah. The controversy stems from a $4,500 payment made to the musician for a music video that was reportedly never produced.

On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Wanlov pleaded not guilty to the charges. His Honour Kwabena Kodua Obiri Yeboah granted him GH¢50,000 bail with one surety, and the case has been adjourned to January 2026. The charges are brought under Section 131(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

Wanlov, known for his controversial persona and outspoken views, now faces legal proceedings as the matter unfolds in court.
