Michael Jackson’s dirty stage sock auctioned for over $8000 in France

A crystal-embroidered sock worn by the late pop icon Michael Jackson during his 1997 “HIStory World Tour” in Nice, France, has been auctioned for $9,922, according to France 24.

The sock, fitted with rhinestones and seen in performances of Billie Jean, was discovered by a technician in Jackson’s dressing room after the concert. Despite signs of wear, the item drew significant interest from collectors.

“It really is an exceptional object — even a cult one for Michael Jackson fans,” said auctioneer Aurore Illy.

This latest auction adds to a long list of valuable Jackson memorabilia. His iconic rhinestone glove, worn during his first-ever moonwalk in 1983, was sold for $350,000, while a hat he wore just before that legendary performance fetched over $80,000 in 2023.

Jackson, often referred to as the “King of Pop,” died on June 25, 2009, from acute cardiac arrest caused by a lethal combination of propofol and benzodiazepines. His personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, was later convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
