Moscow, Idaho – Bryan Kohberger, the man behind the brutal 2022 stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Kohberger pleaded guilty to the murders of Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, and Madison Mogen, who were killed in their off-campus home during a late-night home invasion. By entering the guilty plea, Kohberger avoided the death penalty.
During sentencing, the judge described Kohberger as a “coward” who “senselessly slaughtered” his victims. He showed no emotion and refused to speak in court, and authorities have yet to establish a motive or any clear connection between him and the victims.
The courtroom grew emotional as the victims’ families delivered heart-wrenching impact statements, with the judge visibly wiping away tears at one point.
Though justice has been served, many questions about why the tragedy occurred remain unanswered.
