Benso, Western Region – July 29, 2025 — A 25-year-old man, Kwabina Gyasi, is recovering from multiple cutlass wounds after he was allegedly attacked by a farmer in the Benso community of the Western Region.
According to eyewitness accounts, the violent altercation occurred after the victim was caught defecating on a cocoa farm belonging to the farmer, known only as Mr. Cudjoe. The incident quickly escalated into violence when the farmer, reportedly enraged, drew a cutlass and inflicted several deep wounds on Kwabina.
Kwabina, who had recently relocated to Benso in search of job opportunities, was aided by residents who helped him obtain a police report and rushed him to the Benso Government Hospital. He received treatment and has since been discharged.
Shockingly, Mr. Cudjoe has not been arrested, despite the seriousness of the assault. Community sources say that the man who brought Kwabina to Benso—referred to locally as his “master”—has chosen not to pursue the case, allegedly because of his close ties with the accused farmer.
The incident has raised concerns about justice and accountability in rural communities, especially in cases involving vulnerable individuals and powerful locals.
