A delegation from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) was recently denied visas to the United Kingdom, causing disappointment and frustration. According to a letter from the Home Office to the EFF’s Godrich Gardee, the applications were rejected despite being submitted in advance, with some even paying for priority service. The Home Office has agreed to refund the application fees.

EFF leader Julius Malema expressed his dissatisfaction on X, stating that the delegation had been assured that “everything would be sorted,” only to receive a “regret letter” shortly before their departure. He described the situation as “unacceptable and spineless.”
The visa denials occurred during a UK bank holiday on May 5th, adding a layer of complexity to the situation. The EFF has yet to release further comments on the matter, but the incident has sparked debate and criticism. This is a developing story, and CDR AFRICA will continue to provide updates as they become available.
