What was meant to be a romantic getaway to the “very beautiful valleys” of Meghalaya has turned into a horrifying tale of alleged betrayal and murder. Sonam Raghuvanshi, 25, is now in police custody after surrendering in Uttar Pradesh, following the brutal murder of her husband, 30-year-old Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon.
The couple, who married on May 11 in a ceremony blessed by both families, embarked on their honeymoon to Meghalaya on May 20. Just four days later, they vanished, sparking a massive search operation. Tragically, a week later, Raja’s decomposed body was discovered in a gorge, his throat slit, and valuables missing.

Initially, Sonam was presumed to be a victim, either killed or abducted. However, police now allege that Sonam orchestrated her husband’s murder, hiring killers to carry out the gruesome act. Four men have been arrested in connection with the case.
The news has sent shockwaves through both families. Sonam’s father, Devi Singh, vehemently defends his daughter, stating, “She is innocent and she cannot do this.” He claims that Sonam “somehow managed to escape her captors” and maintains her innocence.
Raja’s family is understandably devastated. His brother, Sachin Raghuvanshi, shared that the couple chose Meghalaya for its scenic beauty. Another brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, stated that the couple was happy and there were no signs of trouble before or after the marriage.
The Meghalaya police are continuing their investigations and questioning those arrested. The motive behind Raja’s murder remains unclear. Sonam’s father has also accused the Meghalaya police of [the article doesn’t specify the accusations].
This case is a tragic reminder that appearances can be deceiving, and sometimes, the most horrifying betrayals come from those we least expect. As the investigation unfolds, the truth behind this honeymoon horror will hopefully be revealed.
