High Court Dismisses Ofori-Atta’s Attempt to Quash Arrest Warrant

In a significant legal development, the High Court (Criminal Division) has dismissed an application filed by former Finance Minister Kenneth Ofori-Atta, who sought to invalidate a warrant for his arrest issued by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

Mr. Ofori-Atta’s legal team argued that the arrest warrant was unlawfully obtained and urged the court to not only strike it out but also to nullify all related proceedings. This included a request to dismiss an Interpol Red Notice that had reportedly been triggered by the warrant.

However, in a ruling delivered this morning, the court found that the application lacked sufficient merit. The judge dismissed the case in its entirety, effectively upholding the legality of the warrant and reinforcing the authority of the OSP in pursuing its investigative mandate.

This ruling marks a critical point in the ongoing legal tussle between the former minister and the Special Prosecutor’s office. It also signals the judiciary’s support for due process in high-profile corruption and misconduct investigations.

As developments unfold, all eyes remain on the next steps the OSP will take in its case involving Mr. Ofori-Atta.
