Ghana is signaling a bold step towards becoming a more accessible destination for both investors and tourists with its newly implemented “Reset Visa Policy.” Effective immediately, visa applications to travel to Ghana will now be processed within a maximum of just five working days, a significant reduction from the previous average of four to six weeks.

The announcement, made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, underscores President Mahama’s vision, declared in his inaugural address on January 7th, 2025, that “Ghana is open for business.” The Ministry aims to translate this vision into reality by streamlining consular services and ensuring policy coherence. By cutting down the visa processing time, Ghana hopes to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles and position itself as a preferred destination for those looking to invest or explore the country’s rich culture and burgeoning economy.
While the new policy promises a swift turnaround, the Foreign Minister emphasized that it does not guarantee automatic visa approval. The decision on eligibility will still be made within the five-day timeframe. This initiative marks a significant step forward in making Ghana a more competitive and welcoming destination on the global stage.
