Ghanaian Businessman in Court for Allegedly Defrauding Woman of GH¢850,000 Worth of Maize

A businessman, Francis Appeynarh, has been arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defrauding a businesswoman, Gifty Ndoma, of maize worth GH¢850,000. Three accomplices — Boakye, Dr. Samir Kazi, and Baffour — are currently at large.

The accused reportedly posed as officials of a company called Earth Organisation Ghana and claimed they urgently needed 3,000 bags of maize to feed poultry on an industrial farm. The maize was delivered between August 23 and 27, 2025.

After delivery, the accused stopped responding to the complainant’s calls and were later found to have sold the maize below market value. Investigations led police to a warehouse in Gulf City, Ashaiman, where 1,049 bags were recovered. The remaining 1,951 bags were allegedly sold, and GH¢95,000 was retrieved from Appeynarh.

Appeynarh has pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to defraud and defrauding by false pretences. He has been granted bail of GH¢800,000 with two sureties. The case has been adjourned to October 27, 2025, as police continue to pursue the other suspects.
