Ghana to Face Power Interruption on July 13 Due to Maintenance Works – Energy Minister

Ghana’s Energy Minister has officially announced a scheduled nationwide power interruption set for Sunday, July 13, 2025. The outage, according to the ministry, is necessary to facilitate critical maintenance works by gas suppliers ENI.

In a press briefing , the Minister explained that the planned maintenance is a routine but essential procedure to ensure the long-term stability and efficiency of power supply systems across the country.

“We understand the inconvenience this may cause, but these maintenance works are crucial to preventing more severe disruptions in the near future,” the Minister stated.

The planned power cut will affect all regions nationwide, though specific timelines and durations for the outage in each area are expected to be published by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the coming days.

ENI, one of Ghana’s key gas suppliers, is scheduled to carry out technical servicing on its infrastructure, which temporarily affects the gas supply required for thermal power generation. As a result, electricity production will be impacted, necessitating the brief nationwide outage.
