The Government of Ghana has officially requested support from the United States in investigating the tragic military helicopter crash that occurred on August 6, 2025.
Foreign Affairs Minister and member of the Ghana Armed Forces Council, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, confirmed the development after signing the Book of Condolence at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr. Ablakwa stated that the Ghana Armed Forces are observing all necessary protocols and will soon hand over the aircraft’s black box to the Chinese manufacturers of the Z-9 helicopter. The manufacturers are reportedly on standby to assist in determining the cause of the crash.
The investigation aims to uncover what led to the deadly incident, which claimed the lives of eight individuals, including high-ranking government officials and military personnel.
