An officer with the Ghana Immigration Service, Stephen King Amoah, has gone missing under troubling and mysterious circumstances since the evening of Thursday, July 3, 2025.
According to his family, Amoah left home after receiving a phone call from a friend who allegedly owed him GHS200,000. The friend, whose identity remains undisclosed by authorities, is said to have invited Amoah to meet him at Ashongman Estates to repay the debt. Amoah reportedly informed his wife about the meeting before leaving home.Later that night, Amoah’s wife—who was not home at the time—received a message from her husband’s phone claiming that he had returned home safely with the money. However, the tone of the message raised suspicions, prompting her to ask Amoah’s brother to check the house. When he arrived, Stephen was nowhere to be found.
Since then, the family has not been able to reach Amoah. His phone remains switched off, and his whereabouts are unknown.In a twist, the friend who reportedly arranged the meeting has admitted to meeting Amoah. He claimed not only to have repaid the GHS200,000 but also given him an additional GHS300,000 for safekeeping. The friend has since been arrested and is currently in police custody as investigations continue.The case has left Amoah’s family devastated and seeking answers. They are appealing to the public for any information that could help locate their loved one.
