Ghana Health Service Confirms 9 Mpox Cases, Urges Public Vigilance

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has officially confirmed a total of nine cases of Mpox across the country. In response to this development, the GHS has assured the public that it remains vigilant and is closely monitoring the situation nationwide to prevent further spread.

Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, is a viral disease that can spread through close contact with an infected person or animal, or with material contaminated with the virus. Symptoms can include fever, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, and a rash that may initially look like pimples or blisters.

The Ghana Health Service is urging all members of the public to stay alert and take preventive measures to minimize the risk of infection. These measures include practicing good hygiene, such as frequent handwashing with soap and water, avoiding close contact with individuals who are showing symptoms, and promptly reporting any suspicious symptoms to the nearest healthcare facility. The GHS emphasizes that early detection and reporting are crucial in controlling the spread of the virus and ensuring timely treatment for those affected.
