Ghana Boosts Immigration Service with New Training Centre and Officer Housing

In a significant step towards enhancing national security and improving the welfare of its officers, the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has officially commissioned the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) Centre of Excellence and a residential accommodation facility in Accra. This initiative marks a pivotal moment for the GIS, promising to boost the capabilities of its personnel and address critical accommodation needs.

The newly inaugurated Centre of Excellence is set to become a cornerstone for post-entry training and development. It will serve as a hub where officers can enhance their skills and knowledge, particularly in addressing migration-related issues. This focus on continuous improvement will undoubtedly strengthen the GIS’s ability to manage and promote effective migration policies, contributing to national development and security.

Alongside the Centre of Excellence, the commissioning of the residential accommodation is a welcome development for GIS officers. Comprising 84 units of two and three-bedroom apartments, the facility aims to improve the living conditions of the personnel. Hon. Muntaka commended the GIS for their hard work and dedication, acknowledging their vital role in national security. He assured that the Ministry of the Interior would continue to prioritize resource allocation to support their efforts.
