Fuel Tanker Loses Control at Asukawkaw Market, Crushing Four to Death and Injuring 14 Others in Oti Region

A tragic accident occurred at the Asukawkaw Market in Ghana’s Oti Region when a fuel tanker lost control and crashed into a crowd on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

The incident claimed the lives of four people, including three women and a one-year-old girl, while 14 others sustained injuries of varying severity.

Eyewitnesses say the driver appeared to lose control while approaching the busy market area, plowing into traders and shoppers before coming to a stop. Emergency services responded quickly, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, while community members mourn the sudden and devastating loss.
