Former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey arrives at court to face rape charges

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on Tuesday after being charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving three women between 2021 and 2022.

According to police, the investigation began in February 2022 following an initial rape report. The five rape charges relate to two women, while the sexual assault charge involves a third.

Partey, who is now a free agent after his contract with Arsenal expired at the end of last season, denies all allegations. His lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, said he “welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.”

Partey arrived at court wearing a dark sweater and carrying a suit jacket. The case is ongoing.
