A disturbing case of impersonation and extortion is unfolding at the Golden Jubilee Terminal of Tema Port. A man, claiming to work with Interpol or the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), has been spotted loitering in the car park, taking photos of cleared vehicles with his phone.
According to eyewitnesses, he alleges he was sent by the government to inspect the vehicles. Shortly after a car is cleared, the photos are reportedly sent to unidentified individuals, who then contact the owners with alarming claims that their vehicles are stolen.
Victims are allegedly forced to pay between GHC 25,000 and GHC 50,000 to have their cars released — all without any official investigation or documentation.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether an investigation has been launched, but the incident has raised serious concerns about security breaches and fraudulent activities at the port.
