Equatorial Guinea President’s Son Fined $275,000 for Unauthorized Sale of National Airline Aircraft

Ruslan Obiang Nsue, the son of Equatorial Guinea’s President and former director of the national airline, has been convicted for illegally selling a state-owned aircraft. The incident occurred during his tenure at Ceiba Intercontinental, the country’s national airline.

Instead of serving jail time, Nsue has been given the option to pay $255,000 to the airline, along with additional fines and damages to the state.

This case has drawn international attention, highlighting ongoing concerns about corruption and governance in the oil-rich Central African nation.
