A Delta flight attendant is suing the airline for $75 million after surviving a terrifying plane crash in Toronto, where the aircraft flipped upside down on the runway in February. Vanessa Miles, a Detroit resident and crew member on the flight, accuses Delta of “recklessness” and “gross negligence” in a federal lawsuit filed Monday in the Eastern District of Michigan.
Miles alleges that Delta “cut corners on safety by rushing pilots through training programs and knowingly putting passengers at risk with inexperienced flight crew.” The flight, which traveled from Minneapolis to Toronto, saw as many as 21 passengers injured when the plane went belly-up at Toronto Pearson International Airport on February 17.
The lawsuit seeks compensation for medical expenses, emotional trauma, and other damages resulting from the crash. It highlights alleged safety lapses and the airline’s responsibility to ensure properly trained crews and safe operations.
This legal action underscores the serious consequences airlines can face when safety procedures are compromised and the lasting impact such incidents can have on both passengers and crew members.
