Chairman Wontumi Blames NPP’s 2024 Election Loss on Internal Failures, Not Bawumia

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has attributed the party’s 2024 general election defeat to internal lapses rather than the performance of its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Addressing party delegates and the media, Wontumi dismissed claims that Bawumia was responsible for the loss, instead pointing to organizational weaknesses, poor strategy, and internal divisions as key factors.

“The loss we suffered was internal. It wasn’t Bawumia’s fault,” he emphasized.

His remarks come as internal debates intensify within the NPP, with stakeholders examining the causes of the party’s electoral setback. Wontumi urged members to focus on fixing internal issues rather than assigning external blame.
