In a historic move that blends music, culture, and royal approval, celebrated Ghanaian rapper Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, has announced that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi will host his iconic Rapperholic Concert for the very first time.
The much-anticipated event is set for September 27, 2025, and marks a major milestone in Ghana’s entertainment scene, as one of the country’s biggest music concerts heads to the heart of the Ashanti Region.
Seeking Royal Blessings at Manhyia Palace
On Friday, July 19, Sarkodie and his team paid a respectful visit to the Manhyia Palace to formally seek permission and blessings from His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene.
During the visit, Sarkodie shared that the dream of bringing Rapperholic to Kumasi has been in the works for over a decade:
“For nearly 12 years, I’ve been planning to bring Rapperholic to Kumasi. This year, I felt it was finally time. I came to humbly ask for your blessing and support, Nana,” Sarkodie told the King.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, known for his unwavering support for Ghanaian talent and culture, responded with words of encouragement and pledged his support for the upcoming event.
