After 10 Years, Awentami Paul Afoko Announces Return to NPP Leadership

Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Awentami Paul Afoko, has revealed his intention to contest the party’s national chairmanship in the upcoming internal elections, marking his return after 10 years.

Mr. Afoko, who led the party in 2014 before his suspension in 2015, said his decision follows “extensive reflection and encouragement” from party members. He emphasized that his focus is now on fostering unity, promoting transparency, and rebuilding the NPP on its founding values.

In the coming weeks, he plans to engage party members and the media to share his vision and strategies for strengthening the party and preparing it to deliver effectively for Ghanaians.

“My focus is on the future — one where our party stands re-energized, inclusive, and better positioned to serve the people,” he stated.
