Nanterre, France – August 1, 2025 – French prosecutors have formally requested the indictment of Paris Saint-Germain and Moroccan international footballer Achraf Hakimi on charges of rape. The request, made in a final indictment signed on August 1, calls for the 26-year-old to be tried before the Hauts-de-Seine criminal court.
The allegations stem from an incident that occurred in February 2023 at Hakimi’s residence in Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris.
A 24-year-old woman claims she was sexually assaulted after visiting the footballer, whom she had met through Instagram. According to her statement to police, she was invited to his home and transported there in a car ordered by Hakimi.
She alleges that once at his home, Hakimi kissed and touched her without consent and ultimately raped her despite her protests. She said she managed to resist and fled the scene.
As the legal process moves forward, all eyes will be on the French judiciary to determine whether the case against Achraf Hakimi proceeds to trial. While the footballer maintains his innocence, the allegations have cast a shadow over his career at a time when he remains in the global spotlight. The outcome of the judge’s decision will not only shape Hakimi’s future but may also prompt wider conversations around accountability in professional sports.
