President Donald Trump has proposed the creation of a new $250 bill featuring his own image, as part of plans to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026.
A bill has been introduced in Congress seeking approval for the new high-denomination note. Supporters argue it would serve both symbolic and practical purposes. However, current U.S. law prohibits living individuals from appearing on currency, meaning legal amendments would be required for the proposal to move forward.
If approved, it would mark the first time a sitting U.S. president appears on official currency — a historic and controversial move that has already sparked debate nationwide.
