8 Arrested in Amansie South Crackdown on Illegal Mining

In a decisive move against environmental degradation and illegal resource exploitation, the Special Anti-Galamsey Operations Team has apprehended eight individuals in Apremadi, a community within the Amansie South district of the Ashanti Region. This operation marks a significant step in the ongoing battle against illegal mining, locally known as “galamsey,” which has been ravaging landscapes and polluting water bodies across Ghana.

The operation, executed with precision and based on solid intelligence, underscores the government’s commitment to eradicating illegal mining activities. By targeting specific locations known for unlawful mining operations, the Anti-Galamsey team aims to disrupt the networks that enable these activities and bring perpetrators to justice.

This arrest sends a clear message: illegal mining will not be tolerated, and those involved will face the full force of the law. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of community involvement in reporting and preventing illegal mining, as collaborative efforts are crucial in safeguarding Ghana’s natural resources for future generations.
