Twenty-five final-year students of Agona Swedru Senior High School have been suspended indefinitely following a fight sparked by a same-sex relationship proposal.
According to school authorities, the altercation began when one male student allegedly proposed to another, who rejected the offer. The rejecting student informed his friends, who reportedly advised him to lure the proposer into a setup. During the planned meeting, a group of students ambushed and assaulted the proposer, prompting a reprisal attack by his dormitory mates.
The situation escalated, involving more students and leading to disciplinary action.
Headmistress Mrs. Golda Esi Andam confirmed to Onua News that all 25 students were given a fair hearing and will write their final exams under parental escort.
She stressed the importance of discipline, noting that while students are being punished, their right to education remains intact.
